From pg. 257 of THE HANDMAID'S TALE by Margaret Atwood (fiction - thankfully)...
"Every night when I go to bed I think, In the morning I will wake up in my own house and things will be back the way they were. It hasn't happened this morning, either."
I just finished this book. The method the story was told, and dealt with at the end, made it very haunting in the realism of the possibility. It didn't help that it took place in an area very familiar to me, to a character near my current age with interests I could relate to. The effectiveness was in the relatablility. Highly recommend.
