ON MOVIES ~ The Farmer In The Dell...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Farms...

This weekend we snuck in a day of weeding, planting and trimming our pathetic garden beds and shrubs. We are very excited because we FINALLY have our driveway and front landscaping being done over the next week. This is something we have been saving time and money for due to The Shed Issue. With the infamous shed just about complete, we could move forward with making the front of our home look presentable to the neighborhood. Combine this with our upcoming Gardening Chat this Friday evening for anyone interested, and we have planting and growing on our minds. Movies have featured farms and farming forever. Their roles in film have changed and even diminished some as the industry of farming has waned. But there are plenty of examples out there. Here are a few that we thought of. Share on your blog movies that are set on a farm, focus on farmers or reference farming in some way, linking back here so that others can find you. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Or would you like to guest host? Let us know in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

Well now you're talking! Unfortunately I didn't have much to say about Katharine the Great, but farming is just my speed. You took the good ones, you know, but I was up to the task...

And OMG, the shed? Almost done? I feel weak in the knees. We will need pictures of course.

Oh! I almost forgot about the chat! Thanks for reminding me! ;)

Oh, you picked some great farm movies with the first three (I don't know the others)--all I can think of is "The Quiet Man" & that's not so much about farming, is it? The Rainmaker? (that's even got Kate the Great in it as I recall).
Will definitely attempt to participate in the upcoming chat. If sticking things in pots on a deck counts as gardening...

Aw, I wish I'd thought of listing Rainmaker! I love how somehow no one on that farm noticed how beautiful Kate was!

And you Bumbles picked my favorite Sally Field performance in Places in the Heart!

But I did somehow manage to come up with three others. One was so obvious I can't believe you Bumbles didn't include it ...

Children of the Corn - great choice! I don't think I duplicated any of yours. I chose three that I really love. http://www.forgetfulone.com/2011/05/monday-movie-meme.html

Farming....this one is a toughie. The Children of the Corn is the only movie on this list but Kingpin looks like it may be an entertaining rental to watch.

I could only think of two and listed them in my Farming on Film post.

I know your gardens and front yard are going to look beautiful ~ I have this sneaky suspicion they already looking lovely!

Fun theme...I never realized how many movies feature farms, farming etc.!
I had some of the same movies in my list, so I spent more time on it so as not to copy your list....I hope you like my farming movies!

Amy's all thumbs but knows a few good farming movies!

Sounds like you are getting a good start. It's still too cold to plant here. We are waiting on mother nature. I HAD to include Witness in my list. You know how I feel about Harrison Ford.:) Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

We've never had professional landscaping, hubby thinks he can do just as well, LOL! You'll have to show us pics.

My favorite farm movie would have to be Son-In-Law. I don't normally find Pauly Shore funny, but he had me clutching my sides from laughter in this one.
