From pg. 52 of THE HANDMAID'S TALE by Margaret Atwood (fiction - thankfully)...
"It's also a story I'm telling, in my head, as I go along. Tell, rather than write, because I have nothing to write with and writing is in any case forbidden."
I have just begun this book and am already sucked in by fear of the possibility.

You know, Margaret Atwood is one of those authors I've never read, but know that I haven't lived until I have. That is a great teaser, and a great line about the possibilities. I get that. One of these days, I need to go on a Margaret Atwood bender.
I've heard mixed reviews on this book, so I will be curious to see what your final thoughts are. My teaser is here.
Interesting teaser.
this is a great book, i really enjoyed and i do remember that teaser
"Aah," said Aunt Marge, smacking her lips and putting the empty brandy glass back down. "Excellent nosh, Petunia. It's normally just a fry-up for me of an evening, with twelve dogs to look after. . . ."
From Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
I've also heard a lot of hype about this book but have yet to read it. I'm going to wait and see what you think before I commit.
if I was going to write a book, that's how I would do it, a story that I'm telling from my head as I went along...
:-)
Thanks for stopping by!
War and Peace is DEFINITELY a book meant to be digested in small chunks...
Blessings!
oh wow..beautiful..!
This one is the only Atwood I've read, and I really enjoyed it. Definitely scary, though. Good teasers!
Writing is forbidden? Ouch!!
Here's my Teaser! ~ Wendi
This sounds haunting and hauntingly familiar. I wish I could remember if I've read it, or if it's on my TBR shelf.
I'm up at both Thornesworld
and Eclectic Witch
with 2 different TTs. I hope you'll stop by!
I read this book a few years ago - it is a seriously great book thought provoking and worrisome - and so easy to see how it could come about.
Thank you for dropping by my games blog :)
A world without writing? I don't know if I could survive! Seriously.
I finally posted mine. I'll be interested to see what you think of Handmaid. I haven't read it yet.
