ON BOOKS ~ In The Woods (again)...

MizB asks you to:
  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page.
  • Share the title of the book the teaser comes from…that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

From pg. 359 of IN THE WOODS by Tana French (fiction)...

"She hadn't taken her eyes off mine, but something in them had changed, and I realized she was every bit as furious as I was. In one fast movement she grabbed a videotape from the table and threw it at me, a hard overhand snap with her whole body behind it."

I was disappointed in this book. I was so looking forward to it but just never could get into it. It dragged on way too long and the story wasn't satisfying. The narrator was a bit annoying and his behavior after the big transition/turning point between himself and the other main character just didn't make any sense. Although I did not exactly figure out the ending in advance, it did not come as much of a surprise or shock. - You can always get a more detailed review by clicking on my Goodreads icon in the sidebar.

Oh no, you didn't like it? I've been looking forward to reading this as well since I bought it a few months back and still haven't been able to get to it. Great, now I'll really be postponing reading it.

This is on my reading list so I'm sad to hear you didn't like it.

That's unfortunate that you didn't like it (although I'm glad you noted that because that line seemed good). You'll save me the trouble.

Oh hell! I read "The Likeness" (the sequel to this) first and thought it was one of the best books I read last year. I have this on my shelf, and I've been so excited to start it. I'll probably read it anyway...maybe I'll like it more since I am intimately aquainted now with one of the characters!

I haven't read this book because I thought it would scare me too much.

Sorry you wasted so many pages on something not so good. But, your teaser was good - made me want to know more. Actually your staement about not liking it is also a teaser. I'm going to check this out at GoodReads.

The prospect of impending death had at first been an abstraction that inspired an icy anxiety. But when he thought of what he would lose with his life, when he considered the specific losses--Samantha, the sea, the blush of dawn, the purple twilight--anxiety quickened into dread.

Your Heart Belongs To Me. Dean Koontz

I'm just about to head to bed and finish the last two chapters of this book. I think Koontz is a master at descriptive prose. I'll be posting my thoughts in the morning on my Blog.

Nice to see you are back online.
