ON BLOGGING ~ Guests Welcome...

Edition #31

Thirteen Things about THE BUMBLES -
and the websites we wish we could guest post for...

Walter @ Who's More Awesome puts up posts about obscure and imaginary competitions between random people, places or things. They all are judged based on the same categories each time - Wine Tasting, Swimsuits, Archery, Racing, Chess, Pie Eating and Fighting. This week he wanted some help from guest bloggers to produce a Men vs. Women post and we were happy to volunteer. Click on his link above to see our contribution to the post and to find out who won. We had so much fun being a part of guest blogging that it got us to thinking what sites we would love to guest post for in our Bumbles dream world. If we were to shoot for the stars, and they were to agree to pay us, these are the sites we'd love to have a shot at:

1. ESPN Page 2: Sports, Entertainment & Humor. Why haven't they hired us already?

2. Rolling Stone: Andy could get paid to be Concert Boy. He might never come home.

3. Entertainment Weekly: You know what's awesome? Making fun of Reality TV. Or hypothesizing about Lost. Or making up bizarre Top 10 Lists. We could totally do this.

4. The Onion: Sarcasm needs to have it's own font created so that people reading online understand that The Onion is not real news. Writing for The Onion would totally suck.

5. MLB: Um - duh. Go watch baseball, get paid to write about it. Do you realize how expensive Red Sox tickets are? Sign us up.

6. National Geographic: This one's got it all. Get paid to TRAVEL!!!! Write about the sites, the scene, the people, bond with animals, go on awesome photo shoots, groove to world music, eat bizarre food (OK - we're actually not that adventurous with our food). No wonder they don't have any openings.

7. Rotten Tomatoes: We watch movies. We critique movies. We aren't afraid of throwing tomatoes where deserved. This would be fun.

8. Yahoo!: Have you ever read the "Featured" posts on Yahoo's homepage? Did they name the website after the yahoos who write them? Bumbles can definitely write better than yahoos. And everyone would read it - admit it, you know you get sucked in by those blurbs too.

9. NY Times Sunday Book Review: Time for some serious stuff. Getting paid to write high profile reviews for the place that makes or breaks authors would be high pressure, but soooo enticing. Plus it would force more time for quality reading which is always in order.

10. Shutterbug: Molly is indeed a "shutterbug." Sometimes she feels like the paparazzi - but friends and family thank her later for it when she shares the results. It would be really cool to be get paid to post about photos and the stories behind them.

11. Chow: We could really only offer insight on beer or dessert. But it would be fun being paid to imbibe and evaluate.

12. LOL Cats: OK - they don't really have commentary here - we just like to waste time visiting. But wouldn't it be nice to get a fee for posting hilarious stories about the kittens somewhere? This seems like the perfect site to pitch that to.

13. YOUR Blog!: The highest pressure might just be being turned loose on a fellow blogger's blog for one post and submitting yourself to their world. In a blog eat blog world, it is the highest praise we can give to each other - money isn't everything you know. Maybe some day we'll have the opportunity to appear at your place for free, which could just turn out to be the best place of all.

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. What do you do? Write Thirteen things about yourself, summarize your week in one entry, make it easy for other bloggers to get to know you on a weekly basis. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is not only encouraged, it is part of being a Thursday Thirteener! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun!

You know, you can come over and air your views on my blog anytime! You pick the topic and then let me know! I'm running a little slow on my posts due to some very long books! BTW, I love EW. Their writers have some killer wit. You would fit in well there!

I tried to get my friend Mara's daughter to guest blog on us playing Scrabble today but she wasn't interested. So I had to do it myself (post coming soon) She did pose though. I had a couple of things on Commondreams.org. That was a thrill.
