ON MUSIC ~ Phish Tales...

Edition #32

Thirteen Things about THE BUMBLES -
and the things we loved about the Phish reunion tour in Boston...

1. Two shows in one week after a five year drought - Fenway Park, Boston on Sunday and the Comcast Center, Mansfield the next Saturday

2. Reconnecting with friends from across the country in town to see the shows

3. Scoring the perfect pre-show table at the Cask across from Fenway for everyone to gather

4. Perfect weather for both shows - even the brief downpour provided a rainbow over Fenway

5. A cleaner scene - more responsible fans

6. Quality of the music - MUCH improved since their farewell fiasco at Coventry, VT. The band really seems to be enjoying themselves - maybe that's why they broke out the trampolines for "You Enjoy Myself" @ Fenway

7. Witnessing premier live performances of new songs

8. No repeat tunes between the two shows

9. “Destiny Unbound” @ Fenway. A rarity which was played on 2/28/03 but prior to that the last time played was 11/15/91. We'd never seen that performed before

10. Cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “The Ballad of Curtis Loew” @ Fenway. The last time played was 8/2/93, we'd never seen before. Zeppelin's "Good Times Bad Times" @ Fenway during the Encore was especially appreciated by Molly

11. “Fluffhead” @ Great Woods. It was played to open the 3/6/09 reunion show @ Hampton, VA but prior to that it hadn’t been played since 9/29/00. Last time for Andy was 12/29/95

12. Ability to download high quality audience recordings of shows the very next day due to the availability of high speed internet (visit here for Fenway or here for Mansfield - or Live Phish Downloads and Mr. Miner's Phish Thoughts for other options)

13. Front row @ Fenway - no joke (Andy is to the right of the guy in the red shirt to who is to the right of the bald security dude)

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. What do you do? Write Thirteen things about yourself, summarize your week in one entry, make it easy for other bloggers to get to know you on a weekly basis. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is not only encouraged, it is part of being a Thursday Thirteener! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun!

Sounds like a good time. Did you see any cold footed vegetarians at Fenway? (inside joke)

I am dating myself but my memories of Fenway and the green monster involve Carl Michael Yastrzemski and Rico Petrocelli! Both played their entire careers with the Red Sox. I believe Yaz holds or shares the record for the most seasons ever with one team.

I can feel the love that is eminating from this list. How long did it take Concert Boy to come down off the high of such an event???? I'm just asking. There are a few choice concerts that I've attended (Peter Gabriel, Roger Waters, Feist, Hannah Montana - just kidding) where I could almost touch the singers, and it took me several days to start walking with my feet on the ground. Those seats are KILLER!

Looks like you had a great time. Now I have to do some research, cuz I haven't a clue what a PHISH is if it doesn't involve email, LOL!

Happy Thursday to you.

I'm sure my nephew was there. Me, I bought my house on money made vending my jewelry at Grateful Dead concerts.
