ON MOVIES ~ Hated It...

Feature Presentation...

MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Walking Out...

We're pretty tolerant Bumbles. We're optimistic and like to give people every opportunity to shine. And we like to finish what we've started. Which is why we don't walk out on movies. But that doesn't mean we haven't thought about it. Here are a few that made us wish we had given up on them (and one that we actually did). Have you ever walked out of a theater? Demanded a refund after renting? Turned the channel? Share on your blog some of the movies that made you wish you had that time in your life back and then link back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

  • Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny - We love Jack Black as an actor and his band, Tenacious D. So when he made a movie about his band we thought this would be hilarious. Andy didn't think it was that bad. The only reason Molly didn't walk out and go see Borat playing in the next theater was because we were at the film with a group of friends.
  • Batman Begins - Maybe we just weren't in the right mood. And Molly isn't really a big fan of Christian Bale - something about him bugs her. This wasn't exactly what we were expecting so we shut this movie off the DVD player and shipped it back to Netflix. Now we feel guilty about giving up on it and think we might try again. See, this is why we normally carry movies through to fruition.
  • Keeping Up With The Steins - Ugh. This had such a great cast of actors. And good plot potential about a family getting carried away with their son's bar mitzvah. But it went NO WHERE. The title is like false advertising since that's not what it's about at all. No laughs. So unoriginal there were lines lifted completely from Fast Times.
  • Deliverance - Molly had never seen this "classic" and was sorely disappointed when she finally got around to watching it. So much hype. Big whoop. Super cheesy and very dated. And Burt Reynolds just reminded her of Smokey & The Bandit so it was hard to take seriously.
  • The Juror - Andy's least favorite movie ever. Alec Baldwin is wonderful on SNL and when his dramatic roles are small, like in Glengarry Glen Ross, he is terrific. But he is horrific in this one. It doesn't help that the story about a juror on a mafia trial is weak and we still don't get why it ends up with a shootout in a rain forest temple. We race to change the channel whenever it is on T.V.

  • Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Leave it in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

I have only ever walked out on two movies and one had nothing to do with the film itself.

Despite my best attempts at checking reviews and being careful about what movies get my attention, I have been bamboozled by a few. My list is up!

I feel lucky that I haven't seen any of the movies on your list, LOL!

I am not familiar with most of the movies you mention. One of them, Batman Begins, I loved. LOL The Juror is the other one I've seen and I did like it, although it's not one of the best Grisham based films.

    Mine is up.

Have watched these movies except for Jack's. Makes me wonder why I haven't seen that when Jack is a favorite of husband and daughter. :D

I've only walked out of one film, which scared the crap out of me... But I do keep a list of the 10 Worst Films of All Time: 1) Darkman, 2) Darkman II, 3) Remo Williams, 4) Ready To Wear, 5) American Beauty, 6) Howard the Duck, 7) Xanadu, 8) Ishtar, 9) Solaris, 10) Internal Affairs.

I know some of these are Oscar winners, but they were all walk out worthy. spw

I've never walked out of a movie, but I seriously considered walking out of Leaving Las Vegas. When it was over wish I had walked out. It remains to this day as the movie I most wish I would have walked out of.

Yes, Batman Begins was a pain. As I recall, it had a kinda silly Kung Fu/Grasshopper beginning, right?

My list is up. This was fun.

I've only seen the beginnings of the Batman Movies and I didn't like any of them. Probably because I grew up on the series--and the movies are nothing like it.
Great (or not so great) picks. my Monday movie

The only one I've seen on your list is Batman Begins and I loved it! But I happen to like Christian Bale on the big screen. I've never walked out of a movie, but there have been a few I wished I had.

BTW- loved your comment to The Breakfast Club. I feel like I know you so much better now :)

This is an old one but the only movie my husband and I have ever walked out on: Towering Inferno. It was so frightening that even my husband couldn't handle it. I'm sure by today's standards it's pretty tame.

I liked Batman Begins, but I couldn't watch it over and over. I haven't seen nor do I desire to see any of the other movies you both listed. For good reason, I'm assuming ;)

    My list is HERE.

I agree with most of your movies - save one - Fast Times at Ridgemount High .... For me - that's a snapshot of my childhood. Goofy as the movie is, I wouldn't have walked out on it. AND Borat - you couldn't pay me to see it. Don't even get me started on his new one Bruno ....

Pick of Destiny was godawful (possibly one of the worst movies ever made). My list is finally up.

I really liked Batman Begins. I haven't seen Deliverance yet, and it is mainly because I was afraid the movie wouldn't live up to the hype. Interesting.

My entry is up. I seem to always get it up on Tuesday. *sigh*

    I hated it!

I haven't seen Deliverance in so many years, but I remember being so scared by it. I wonder if I would now see it as cheesy? Maybe if I did, I could listen to banjo music again! :--)

Great topic. I could only think of three, but I am sure there were a lot more!
