ON MOVIES ~ Howdy Partner...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Westerns...

We're on vacation this week, and although we didn't go to the Wild, Wild West we thought we'd make this week all about it. We are visiting Molly's extended family down South this week including some cousins Molly played Cowboys & Indians with as a child. We'll also be visiting her grandmother who always had tons of books to read including a few all about prairies and dust bowls, ghost towns and gold. Since it isn't a favorite genre of ours we don't have a lot of selections to share. So please share on your blog movies all about Westerns and then link back here at The Bumbles so we can get some recommendations. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

  • Blazing Saddles (1974) - "Excuse me while I whip this out." Oh come on, you knew we'd go for humor first, right? Incredibly politically incorrect classic from Mel Brooks.
  • Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid (1969) - We like our Westerns with some chuckles and some great scenery - such as Paul Newman and Robert Redford...*sigh* - er, uh all that beautiful cinematography of the mountains.
  • The Good, The Bad & The Ugly (1966) - No, not the Red Sox most recent season - Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western with Clint.
  • Unforgiven (1992) - Speaking of Clint, his directorial efforts in the genre that brought him so much fame.

  • Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Leave it in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

Oooh, I suck at Westerns! But still, I can't call myself a movie buff if I couldn't come up with a few, so here they are:

Ha! Can you believe the first time I saw Blazing Saddles (in the theater), I was totally offended by the, ahem, campfire scene? Now I think it is hilarious! Must come from raising 2 boys, and now 3 grandboys! Love Madeline Kahn in that movie, or any movie!

I guess you just get it or you don't :)

I've already mentioned the first time I saw Blazing Saddles on this web site--I don't think I'll repeat myself *as red flush creeps up my cheeks*

Ahhhh . . . Robert Redford, he is nice scenery.

If you want to wander down my road I’m home.

My dad was big on westerns, so this was a pretty easy one for me. You can find it HERE.

I'm not a big Western fan, but I did manage to come up with a few, including one match: http://www.endomental.com/2009/10/monday-movie-meme.html.

"We got to go back 'n get a ****load of dimes" Love that movie, even saw it in a theater (clearly the parents had no clue). And the bicycle scene in Butch Cassidy...sigh...I don't know which of them was cuter. Great choices; thanks!

Westerns aren't my favorite movie genre but that said you have names some wonderful movies, Blazing Saddles is hilarious, a movie no one should miss! If you like Clint - and I love Clint! - Unforgiven is such a good movie. I admit I have never seen The Good, the Bad and the Ugly but I will one of these days!

I hope you're having a wonderful vacation, eating a lot of food that tastes great and isn't good for you! playing and relaxing, visiting family and friends and all that good stuff! Enjoy and safe traveling :o)

Blazing Saddles is a movie I keep on hand for days when I am feeling a bit down. It is so silly/stupid/ but funny that it has a way of cheering me up!

I like a good Western once in a while. So I put up my selection on my blog. I don't recall seeing Blazing Saddles but I am going to check it out for sure. Enjoy your vacation.

My husband grew up with the Saturday shows all being of the cowboys and indians variety. He loves the old Randolph Scott movies up through his current favorite Open Range.
