ON PHOTOS ~ Seven Year Itch...

As we mentioned in our Monday Movie Meme, Monday was our wedding anniversary. Since neither of us had Columbus Day off on our actual anniversary, we decided to take time off Saturday from chores, blogging, TV and the rest of the world and instead spend the day together. After seven years of official marriage, and nearly half our lives as a couple, we don't tend to make a big fuss. But Molly was inspired by a beautiful fall day and a recent post from Beth Fish Reads about "The Last Dickens" in which she shared a blurb referencing Thoreau's book "Walden." So off we went for a literary tour of Concord, Massachusetts. Enjoy!

ORCHARD HOUSE:

where Louisa May Alcott wrote and set Little Women

VERRILL FARM:

where we stopped for lunch, Bluegrass & a pumpkin

WALDEN POND:

where we walked off lunch, took in the foliage and thanked Thoreau for the privilege - take a virtual walk with us HERE

DINNER:

Verrill Farm's fresh apple cranberry pie in front of the first fire of the season back at home sweet home

Now that is about as perfect a way to celebrate an anniversary that I can think of. Well done!

What an idyllic day! The perfectness just oozes out of the pictures. That one of the fire and the pie really did it for me. All you needed was a little bed and breakfast!

Oh my goodness, I'm so envious of your day out and that you live in a place so rich with history. That sounds like my idea of a perfect anniversary celebration...so much better than a cruise!

Looking at your photos, I suddenly realized I'd never seen a photo of Walden Pond. That was a special treat, and made me realize I should set aside Pilgrim at Tinker Creek for a bit and do a re-read of poor Thoreau.

Our continued heat and humidity here does make a case of Autumn Envy almost inevitable - but I enjoyed your photos, nonetheless.

And congrats on your anniversary!

Fantastic day! Makes me want to plan another trip to Mass. I love Concord. I'm so glad to have helped spirit you and your camera out of the house onto the road.

I had a day like that - seeing Concord while visiting a dear college friend. Louisa's house, Waldon Pond.

Congratulations on the anniversary.

This looks like the perfect way to celebrate being in love. Your pictures are just amazing. I don't know how you do it. They always make me feel I am right there. I liked your Attractions piece on Walden but I really like this one. It's more personal. (As it should be for your personal blog.)

You two have been married (Happy Anniversary while I'm at it), just a couple of weeks shy of us. Cool. And on a completely different vein - I think you should sneak that little plastic statue (hermit?) into as many shots as humanly possible, but in a subvert poetical way ..... I dare you.

Happy belated anniversary. It looks like a great trip, and one that I think the Bear and I will do soon.
