Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME
Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.
This week's movie topic is all about Heroines...
Time for a little "Girl Power!" There are leading ladies, love interests, eye candy and comediennes - but my favorite roles for actresses are those who take charge and get things done. I'm talking Heroines. Here are our choices for ladies we'd want on our side. Share on your blog women characters from film who know how to save the day, linking back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!
- Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher)- The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
- Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver)- Alien (1979)
- Edna Spalding (Sally Field)- Places In The Heart (1984)
- Jane Wilder (Kathleen Turner) - Romancing The Stone (1984)
- Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn) - The African Queen (1951)

Oh! I love this topic! And your choice of Edna Spalding was inspired. Everyone remembers Sally as Norma Rae, standing on the table with the handwritten UNION sign. But Edna was just as courageous, just in a more personal way. I have three of my own heroines listed on my blog.
I have to go with the movie, "Enough" starring Ms. Jennifer Lopez. She's married to a rich punk who cheats crazily and slaps her around.
After realizing he's a total jack-a she works out with a personal trainer and takes back the night, as it were.
Very empowering and the guy gets what he deserves. Punk.
YOu will see no Angelina Jolie on my list, however I really wished I could have listed Sigourney from Aliens! But I found a few of my own. Good topic this week!
This is a theme I can certainly get behind! Here's my list: http://bearswampreflections.blogspot.com/2010/06/you-go-for-it-girl.html
Yeah, I still can't figure out how to make a link in comments. I think I'm unteachable.
Sorry for the delete: stupid spelling error.
Good ones!!! I have 3 listed here
You are always stealing the ones I want to use!
I had to use Ripley 'cause she's my girl, but managed to come up with 4 more.

VERY fun topic. I ended up with 12.
I picked Sigourney Weaver as well! I would have to say my fave all-time heroine is Zhang Ziyi! That girl can FIGHT! :) My choices are HERE.
My list would have to include Meryl Streep. The one that comes to mind is the character she played in The Devil Wears Prada. I would definitely want that gutsy woman on my side. I would not want her against me.
Princess Leia is one of my favorites

Nice topic for this week!
One thing about princess leia....aside from Lukes aunt in the first movie, she was the only woman in the whole damned galaxy! hahah

Eowyn in LOTR:ROTK:
Witch King: [taking Eowyn by the throat] You fool. No man can kill me. Die now.
Eowyn: I am no man.
[she thrusts her sword into the Witch King's helm and twists; he shrieks and implodes]
My favorite heroine would have to be Eowyn, from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I love how she disguises herself as a man to join in the battle for Minas Tirith. She kicked butt!
Totally forgot about movies yesterday! Mine would be... Norma Rae, probably.
I've been very remiss with my Movie Mondays, but I love this topic, and all your choices (except that I haven't seen "Places").
One of my favorites is Erin Brockovich--gotta love any woman who takes on big business and wins!
