If you spend any time here at The Bumbles Blog you will know that I love to take photos. So it is really cool when I play along with Shutterday and find out that anonymous strangers have voted my photo submissions into the winner's circle! Because of Shutterday I take photos of the most random things because you never know when the theme of the week will be "Rust" or some such thing. And every week, I am surprised and challenged and unprepared for the actual topic. But a few times this year, I have finished in the top three!
Shutterday is unique among the photo memes in that you have a week to submit your photo and then there is a week for anyone to vote for as many photos as they like. The photos with the most votes are tallied up and the winners are revealed on the site for all to see. You don't win any prizes but you don't have to blog hop either - all the entries are viewable right within the Shutterday site.
You see submissions from all levels of ability and you don't need to be a pro to finish on top. Everyone has their own criteria for voting and so the playing field is always level. It is a lot of fun and has truly made me look around this world of ours with a more detailed eye - wondering what the players at Shutterday might think of THAT image...

The storm shot is my favorite. The sun looks so pretty peeking through the clouds and reflected on the water.
Yippee! Congratulations! I love the storm and the wedding, but the hockey shot is a hoot! However did he manage to get his head in there??
I knew about Shutterbug because of your posts, and I've checked it out a few times. Although I've never entered any photos there myself. Like you, I take pictures of random things too and have more photos than I know what to do with in my files. But as you said, you never know. I remember all of these pictures from your earlier posts, and congratulations. Getting recognition from your peers makes it all worthwhile.

I have just become interested in photography and need to practice - a lot! I often do not what to photograph and I think having a certain theme for the week will help me to break out of my picture-taking rut.
