ON MOVIES ~ Leave It To The Locals...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Bad Accents...

Did you know that many of this year's Oscar nominated movies were filmed right here in Boston? Boston has become a hot bed for Hollywood and Indie films alike. Part of that is because the state has made an effort to entice the filmmakers with tax breaks and other financial motivating factors. But another part of it is that there are a lot of good stories set in New England being filmed these days. The only downfall with this is that it results in some pretty horrific attempts by actors at the New England accents - particularly Boston's. This is nothing new to the movie scene. Share on your blog movies that feature regional accents so bad, they might as well have not bothered at all. We've shared a few from our neck of the woods - link back here at The Bumbles with your choices from around the globe. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!
Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Or would you like to guest host? Let us know in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

I know The Town was -- OBVIOUSLY! -- filmed in Boston, and I assume all the actors performed their accents well because favorite son Ben Affleck wouldn't have it any other way, right?

I went over seas for my choices ...

I agree, the Boston accent is usually slaughtered in films as well as New York. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

Sorry I didn't participate today...I feel like total caca. And even now, after like 20 hours of sleep, nothing comes to mind. I'm no good to anyone today!

I think your choices are brilliant! I'm not familiar with Blown Away but love Bridges so will be looking up that movie. The Departed is a great movie but, aside from DiCaprio, there were many bad accents in the flick! lol

This is an interesting topic...Boston & MA accents are tough! I spent a lot of time around them my 4 years in college & didn't come away with an ability to mimic any. But I have a terrible hear for accents, musical tunes etc. That could prove to be my downfall with this topic. If so, I consult some peeps I know with much better hears! lol

I can relate to how Sandy feels but I'm going to ponder accents and get back to you with a post...hopefully! Wish me luck! Aaacccckkk!

It's funny that you mention Quiz Show because my choice for worst accent would have to go to Ralph Fiennes(Charles van Doren). I couldn't tell what accent he was trying to pull off :)

I looked at this yesterday but really couldn't come up with anything. I wouldn't know a good accent from a bad!

I can never think of movies so I never play along. But then when I read your choices I can't help but nod along in agreement and totally remember why you made the choices you made.
