MONDAY MOVIE MEME
Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. This week's movie topic is all about Katharine Hepburn...
We spent this past Mother's Day weekend visiting my family in Connecticut. After a lovely breakfast we ventured over to my brother and sister-in-law's new place in Old Saybrook, with the ocean a short walk at the end of their street. A beautiful town on the Connecticut Shore, its most famous resident was none other than the impressive Katharine Hepburn. She and her family lived there throughout her life and it is where she died. A new theatre was dedicated to her memory and bears her name there. So what other possible topic could there be for this week other than the winningest Best Actress herself? Here is our favorite Hepburn film. Share on your blog your favorite moments, memories or films featuring Katharine, linking back here so that others can find you. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!
The African Queen (1951) - Co-starring Humphrey Bogart and earning her 5th Best Actress Oscar nomination - which she lost to Vivien Leigh in A Streetcar Named Desire - Katharine portrayed Rose Sayer, a woman with a plan, and an unlikely accomplice, to attack a WW1 enemy in Africa

What a great weekend trip! And what a great Movie Monday topic. She's so terrific. And while The African Queen is a good choice, there are SO MANY good choices this week!
My favorite actress. :) Favorite Kate moment? When she appeared on someone's late night talk show (Johnny Carson or Dick Cavett, I forget) and the host asked her if she were ever bored. She looked him square in the eye, as only she could do, and answered: "Never. I find myself completely fascinating."
Gotta love it!
I'm not a big Katharine Hepburn film, and haven't seen any of her movies, so maybe I should brush up and see some :)
This was was right up my alley. I used all of Gage's morning nap to ramble on!

ps. I think she only won 4 Best Actress Oscars?
Katharine Hepburn is one of my favorite actresses so I LOVE this theme! The African Queen is fantastic movie, nice choice!
I tried to hold back & only list a few favorite films of hers...but boy was I tempted to keep listing!
Amy's list of Katharine Hepburn movies!
I hope you like my list!
I apologize for the weird spacing issues..ugh! Blogger. :o)
sounds like you had a fun mother's day.
The other day I was talking movies with Mr. J and the kids and we started talking about movies that didn't have a bad guy. There was a conflict--but no villain. For example "Apollo 13". The stress factor was getting the astronauts back to earth and that provided the antagonist in the film. It might be fun to see what kinds of films people could come up with that didn't have a specific bad guy.
Kaye—the road goes ever ever on
As a child, I was enthralled with Katharine Hepburn. She was the best!
Here's my answer to this week's question.
Of her 50+ movies, I have seen only two, and I'm not a huge fan just because I have had no experience with her movies. So I was going to take a pass on this week, but then I posted something else movie-ish. How can I call myself a movie lover and not know anything about Hepburn? I don't know!
Fun topic! She made so many memorable films, it was hard to choose.
She seems to have done a lot of work in show business. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with this particular actress but it was nice to find out about her thanks to her being chosen as the monday movie meme topic.
Since I haven't watched any of her films, my post focuses on the "moments" aspect moreso than a favorite scene. Thankfully, I was able to find out something rather cool that highlights her memory and legendary status :)
The Madlab Post
Add me to the list of people who have Katharine the Great as our favorite actress.
Usually if I'm late, I don't turn in a post. This week, I'm going to.
Excellent topic choice! Old Saybrook is a fantastic weekend destination. I must add it to my list of places to see.
A huge KH fan here. I love all her films. She would come pretty near the top of the best actresses of all time in my book, and certainly she would be the one I would have wanted to meet. I admire her life - she was a women ahead of her time, who refused to be constrained by the then norms of society - whether it was wearing trousers or in her relationships. Always elegant. Even in her last film, Love Affair, in her short supporting role part she completely outshone leads Warren Beatty and Annette Benning. A woman from my mothers era so a very apt choice for Mother's Day!
Great movie topic. Katherine Hepburn is one of my all-time favorite actresses. I especially love anything she's in but I'm more attached to the old ones with Spencer Tracy.
Oh my gosh! I can't imagine choosing a favorite KH movie! From her early madcap movies to her later films, I have loved her work. I'll pick an early one, "Bringing Up Baby", and a later one, "On Golden Pond", as my favorites.
They're showing "Bringing Up Baby" on the big screen as part of the Summer Movie Series at the historical Ohio Theatre in Columbus. I'm buying a season pass.
Happy Birthday to Kate tomorrow (5/12)! How do I know this? Because we share a birthday. :)
I'm a little late with the link-up, but how I LOVE this particular question! Kate Hepburn is my all-time fave, and I absolutely loved writing about her this week. Here's my post: things that are awesome :: Katharine Hepburn films
I love The African Queen but my fav Hepburn movie is The Philadelphia Story.
