ON MOVIES ~ Prozac Anyone?...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Depressing Movies...

As we continue Sandy's selection month of June here at the Monday Movie Meme, for today's topic she has selected movies that leave you thoroughly depressed after viewing. Please visit Sandy's blog, You've GOTTA Read This for her full intro. post and picks. As for me, I was so relaxed not having to come up with a topic that I forgot entirely to post anything until I woke out of a sound sleep this morning realizing my lazy ways! As a result, I only have one selection for you today. Share on your blog movies that make you go totally bummed out and link back here so that others can find you. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!
  • Terms of Endearment (1983) - Oh sure, there are moments of levity and hope in this movie, along with a terrific cast, but it is not my idea of a pick-me-up by any means. Adultery, sickness, death, strained relationships....if not for a certain playboy astronaut next door, there'd be nothing encouraging going on here.

Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Or would you like to guest host? Let us know in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

depressing subject today . . . *wink, wink*. I thought I'd do like you and list only one. I've never made it all the way through Terms of Endearment--maybe someday. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

Have to agree with you that TOE is one of the saddest movies ever made!

Mine are HERE.

I thought of a couple--one my friends raved about but I didn't care for.

I tend to see a difference between sad and depressing. TOD was sad, but not really depressing. My idea of a depressing movie was The one with Nicholas Cage where he drinks himself to death in Las Vegas. That was depressing!

I love this movie, but it is so darn sad. Shirley Maclaine is incredible, isn't she?

The only problem I have with this is the mom dying. My dad died when I was young, so this really hits a nerve with me. I usually watch it when I'm needing a good cry.

How in the world did I mistake this with an old Samuel Jackson film, based on a glance at the title?

There seems to be a lot going on in this film within your description of it that would have someone either really stressed out or driving themselves crazy or both. I'm not familiar with it and am not sure if it's something that I'd want to watch....that all depends on what that astronaut next door is working with!

...what? I had to try and throw a little jokey joke in there, so as to bring some sunshine to such a cloudy topic for this week :)

My pick is up. Does any one out there have some chocolate and anti-depressants they want to share? I need them now.

One of the most depressing movies I've seen is "They Shoot Horses, Don't They". Not only set during the Depression, but depressing as hell.
