ON MOVIES ~ Get Your Popcorn...

Feature Presentation...

MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Leave a link to your blog post where you’ve shared your response or, if you don’t have a blog, share your response in the comment section at the end of this post.

This week's movie topic is all about Concessions...

See our happy logo for the Monday Movie Meme? It is a shot of the "Dancing Concessions" that used to play before every movie for one of the big theaters that has probably since gone out of business. It was their way of reminding everyone to get up and go spend money on snacks and drinks before the movie started - as if we hadn't already remembered to do this on our way in. The allure of buttered popcorn is pretty strong after all. Movies and snacks go hand in hand - whether you watch from home or out on the big screen. Here are our favorite movie snacks. What are yours?

  • Molly loves Raisinetes dumped in buttered popcorn

  • +
  • Andy loves to fill his own bag from the bins of scoop your own treats

  • Andy prefers gummy candy - Sweedish Fish, Gummy Bears, Good N' Plenty

  • Andy also likes Milk Duds

  • Molly also likes Reese's Pieces

  • A small soda is enough - any bigger results in missing scenes for bathroom breaks

  • Unless viewing from home - where beers work well with the pause button

Sugar Babies, Raisinettes, Twizzlers... and ooohhhh buttered popcorn...YUM! Sometimes we'd make homemade snacks from whatever we could find in the cupboard (chunks of brownies mixed with peanut butter chips, M&M's, granola, raisins, peanuts). We still have an active summer drive-in theater (Wellfleet),which opens up a whole new angle on the concession business.

Hmmm. Scoops? I guess it's been awhile since I've been. My old standbyes were always junior mints, good n plenty and of course lots of salty popcorn with the pee colored grease. Long time gone. hehe!

You threw us a bone after last weeks, which was quite difficult! Buttered popcorn, Junior Mints and a soda, every time!

Definitely Buttered popcorn and Junior Mints. The popcorn is one of the best incentives to go to the theater!
I hope to participate in the meme mext week.

I'm usually too much a cheapskate to buy snacks at the movies. Now, having said that we just saw the Hannah Montana movie (got three young girls but I did enjoy it, dammit) and we got popcorn with gobs of oily butter and a diet Coke.

    And it was delicious!

Hey, onto our budding buddy-ship. Um, how do we do this thing?

Interesting change of pace this week. Stunned by the range of snack choice you seem to have over there. I've posted mine, just listing every movie snack I've ever come across, and I still think your list is bigger.

Hey, I just found your Monday meme and love the idea! :) Some of my favorites are popcorn of couse, Reese Pieces, gummy worms, sour patch kids and a big cherry coke!

This is a unique and interesting one; mine's fairly simple, but unique, I think :) You can check it out HERE.

Look at all those yummy treats! You're making me hungry. :-)

I usually get a pretzel when at the theater; although not always. It depends on where I'm going to lunch afterward.

I've never heard of Raisenets IN the popcorn but it sounds quite yummy. I will try that next time. I cannot go to a movie without the buttered popcorn. It's the smell that gets me every time. Then I wait until the movie actually starts before i let myself eat it. I know I'm strange.

    I love your blog!
I keep coming across all those fun old school movie goodies at the 99cent only store and wanting to throw a big movie night with chocolate covered, chocolate chip cookie dough.
I have yet to find enough takers. : (
