ON MOVIES ~ The Good, The Bad & The Ugly...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Highs & Lows...

I'm sure you have a favorite actor/actress. Someone whose work you admire enough to overlook, or even forget completely, those performances where they weren't quite on their game. Or perhaps there is someone whose portrayals are usually forgettable, but they have surprised you with a gem here or there. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut as they say. Here are some examples we thought of. Share on your blog other highs and lows of a particular actor/actress and link back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

TOM CRUISE...He might be a total fruitcake in his real life, but he is very good at what he does more often than not. But not always:
  • THE GOOD = Born on the Fourth of July, Collateral, Tropic Thunder
  • THE BAD = Cocktail
  • THE UGLY = Eyes Wide Shut

  • BEN AFFLECK...Not the world's best actor. He's much better at writing and directing (Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone). And milking his friendship with Matt Damon for all it's worth. But amongst the crap-ola there are a few exceptions:
  • THE GOOD = Dogma, Changing Lanes
  • THE BAD = Jersey Girl
  • THE UGLY = Gigli

  • Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Leave it in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

This is one that breaks my heart. I'm not sure what kind of financial issues some of the "masters" have landed in, but you are right, it gets pretty ugly. Here are mine:

I love Collateral and Dogma and Tropic Thunder made my list by a different actor :) Actually, we just watched State of Play last night and I really didn't find Affleck all that believable as a Senator. The movie wasn't bad though.

I agree with Ben Afleck..I gotta stick by him though. He's amazing :)

I can't think of anyone. My fav's are Tom Hanks, Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo Dicaprio.
I don't think they have a bad or ugly :)
Unless you count Lady Killers...bad, bad, bad tom hanks...bad...

I agree with you totally on both actors you chose--some of their films are outstanding and some are just well . . . not outstanding. Fun topic this week. Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

You know, I'd love to share highs and lows of a particular actor (*cough* Johnny Depp *cough*) but he's had no lows :-)

I loved Ben Affleck in Hollywoodland. And I'm with you on Tom Cruise. No matter how wacky his private life is, I want to like him.

I went with two actresses whose careers have similarities -- except I like one and don't like the other.

I'm surprised "A Few Good Men" didn't make your Cruise list. Some of the uglier ones, I've managed to avoid.

    My list is here: http://www.endomental.com/2010/02/monday-movie-meme.html

Re: Tom Cruise - other than "Risky Business" I haven't like anything he's done. Particularly in the last couple of years, but I may be being flavoured by his off screen behaviour.

Those were some good ones! I can't say I've seen anything I liked with Ben Affleck in it....oh he did have an unnamed part at the beginning of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a b-ball player! He was pretty good in that!
