ON MOVIES ~ Should Be Continued...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Non-Existent Sequels...

Last week, The Gal Herself suggested a topic that intrigued me. "What movie doesn't have a sequel that you wish did?" Ahhhhh - the terrific world of WHAT IF?! There are tons of movies that have sequels that shouldn't have. And even some where the sequels were better than the original. But an endless possibility exists for those missing sequels that you'd love to see. Here are a few that made our wish list. Share on your blog movies lacking that next installment that you'd be first in line to see. Don't forget to visit your fellow participants!
  • Juno (2007) - Did Juno & Bleeker stay soul mates forever? Did they get to know their first child after all? Did they have any more of their "own?"
  • The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) - Good God! What happened to Tom Ripley? How many others did he snooker, take advantage of and cause to "disappear?" Did he ever get caught? Did he take his impressions back to the US? Did he ever realize how insane he was? I need to know.
  • Bull Durham (1988) - I'm pretty sure this movie was perfect, but I'd like to see a version with Crash Davis as coach of today's minor leaguers to see how the world of steroids, outside cultures and instant media would impact Annie's church of baseball.
  • Best In Show (2000) - I just want to hear Fred Willard improv more dog show commentary.
  • The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) - There will be. There won't be. There will be but Matt won't be in it. There will be but it will be a prequel instead. Screw that. I want a 4th Bourne movie, to continue the last one and I want Matt Damon in it. And I want it now.
Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Or would you like to guest host? Let us know in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

Oh, I don't know about this one! Hollywood is so notoriously bad when it comes to making sequels. If they're going to make sequels of any of the movies I'd like to see more of, can we please guarantee they won't screw them up?

I would LOVE to find out what happens to Crash and Annie after Bull Durham ended. Would Crash be able to adjust to life after baseball? Would Annie be able to adjust to fidelity and commitment? Great choice.

I also want to see a sequel to Bachelor Party. Will Tom Hanks and Tawny Kitaen live happily ever after? Just kidding. It's on as I answer this, I'm seeing it for the first time since Tom Hanks became a double Oscar winning actor, and I can't believe how young he looks, and how funny it is. (Should I be ashamed of myself for admitting that? After all, the movie does include a donkey OD.)

Now back to my blog for my real answers ...

Good choices. Of those, I'd definitely want to see the Juno and Best In Show sequels. My choices are up here.

Bull Durham is a great choice! Only now, Crash would be more like some of the slimy characters he has played of late and would probably feel up all the young players wives and force them to sleep with him or their hubbies/boyfriends would be cut from the team. :D

There absolutely must be a Best in Show II. Fred Willard is hilarious, but then, so is the rest of the cast. I loved Parker Posey, such angst over nothing...reminds me of a couple of people I know.

The Bourne Ultimatum...how could anyone else be Bourne?!!! Matt Damon wrote that part, and I will not allow some hack "action/adventure" actor to step into that role. No way, baby!

Sounds like someone has the hots for Matt Damon! LOL

Juno is a good one. I thought Bleeker was too geeky and gawky for Juno, and would like to see her grow out of him! :--)

These were hard choices, honestly, so I added a little assistance from Google ;) My choices are: HERE.

I would have picked Bourne and Juno too! But I came up with some other ones http://gofita.blogspot.com/2011/02/monday-movie-meme-should-be-sequels.html

Great topic! So often, after a good movie, I wonder if a sequel will be made and if made, will it be done well!

Love your list & I completely understand your reason for wanting a sequel to Best in Show, a fantastic movie!
I'd really like to see good sequels to Juno and The Talented Mr. Ripley, two more movies I loved!

My list is here:

I don't think that Juno should have a sequel. If they do make a sequel, I will not watch it unless a few other people that I know gave it a good review.

I do agree, however, that this Bourne Ultimatim nonsense is annoying. A 4th Bourne movie would be fitting only if it stars Matt Damon...I mean, they can't just take him out of the movie and expect all of his fans to still show up for a 4th installment of Bourne.

Also, I read that Matt Damon won't do another Bourne movie unless the same director is on it, and the director has reportedly not been scheduled for this movie so there seems to be a lot of politics involved that's holding up the film.

I'm fine with the franchise stopping at "Bourne Ultimatum" because I would rather the studios, producers, etc. keep it at the three then add another one that is bad because it lacks a familiar face (Matt Damon) or lacks the main character (Jason Bourne).

Also, what's up with all of these prequels anyway? They may be trying to do a prequel so that they can get away with developing some wacky storyline without having to involve Jason Bourne, and thus not needing Matt Damon.

All I know is, unless Damon signs off on another Bourne movie, I won't be interested in watching any new installments in this particular franchise.

I added my selection to this meme in my most recent blog post.

That's a good one with "The Bourne Ultimatum". You seem to be a big fan of Matt Damon. There are quite a lot of movies that I've seen that needs to have another installment, but can't think of a list as of the moment, hehe.
