ON FUN ~ Best of 2008...

THURSDAY THOUGHTS...

There used to be this great meme called Thursday 13, but the creators decided to stop it in December 2008 due to an illness in the family. We decided to continue on with our own version:

Edition #1:

THURSDAY THOUGHTS from THE BUMBLES -
about our "Best of 2008"...

1. BEST MOVIE: We have no idea!!! We had such a busy year and what little movie viewing we did was on Netflix of older releases. In fact, the only movie we saw this year that was a new release was Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and that most certainly was NOT worthy of Best anything. We have plenty from this year on the queue though - Milk, Marley & Me, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Tropic Thunder among others.

2. BEST T.V.: Lost. Remember way back in the spring in Season 4 when Ben moved the island? Or whatever the heck he did to make it disappear? Waiting patiently 1 more month to be reunited with this show's awesomeness for Season 5. Also looking forward to the return of Friday Night Lights to network T.V. shortly which we also last saw way back in the beginning of 2008. To pass the time we actually got to see two seasons of Survivor - the earlier of which was incredible (Fans vs. Favorites) - the more recent (Gabon), not so much. Meanwhile, The Discovery Channel had a real version of survivor, The Alaska Experiment, which was awesome in HD. Then of course there is always Deadliest Catch. But the most pleasant surprise was the return of Tina Fey to SNL thanks to Sarah Palin.

3. BEST BOOK: The Assist: Hoops, Hope and the Game of Their Lives, by Neil Swidey. Molly has been pimping this book everywhere she can. Excellent non-fiction writing about a high school basketball coach going way beyond normal expectations to mentor inner city teens. Just go read it already!

4. BEST MUSIC: Check out our recent post here - but essentially we feel it was Drive By Truckers, My Morning Jacket, Spoon, David Byrne & Brian Eno as well as Duffy.

5. BEST TRIP: This one's easy! Molly's brother got married in October (after 10 years) in Mystic, CT. To be honest, he could have gotten married in a dumpster in the ghetto and it still would have been the best trip of the year. Thankfully he didn't. Mystic is a lovely place!

6. BEST SPORTS MOMENT: Well...it was certainly NOT the Superbowl. Don't get us started. Thankfully the Celtics came along to continue New England's incredible winning tradition. Too bad the Sox couldn't repeat - there's always next year.

7. BEST NEWS: Duh. Goodbye to Dubya.

Keeping in the spirit of the original T13, the purpose of this post is to share some random thoughts from our lives each week with you so you continue to get to know us better. If you would like to do the same, leave a link to your blog post where you’ve shared your Thursday Thoughts or, if you don’t have a blog, share them in the comment section at the end of this post. Or just be a lurker - we don't mind.

I'm glad you decided to continue with T13 in a different form. =) I decided to continue too, so here's mine, if you'd like to visit: http://bettysbooks.blogspot.com/2008/12/happy-new-year-2009-and-tt-5.html

I love your list! I haven't been watching much of tv or movies either, so I can't think what the best ones were. =)

Happy New Year to you and your family!

My TT is up, too. I was sort of hoping that we'd still be able to access some of the links from previous weeks, but alas the whole thing is gone. Sigh.

Maybe if there are enough of us, we can revive or recreate it. It's fun to meet new bloggers this way.

Happy New Year!

Great idea. Count me in.

As you know from visiting, I did a final Thursday Thirteen. I'll be by to visit everyone here.

I'm glad TT is going to keep going in some form. Thanks for keeping it going. I did one too before I found out it had ended.

I can't wait for LOST either.

Happy New Year!

I did a T13 too....and I'm glad I read your comment on another blog...does this mean that it will be down forever? And if so, are you planning on making a new blog meme for Thursday Thoughts?

Keep it going!

Loved reading this one, even though I don't do those 13's any longer.

I am such a twit that I've watched every single season of SNL since the begin (yeah, I'm THAT old!) and it was a bummer when Fey left, and now Amy P. I was overjoyed to see her back as Sarah Palin.

Happy New Year to the Bumbles down the road!

There seem to be lots of die hard 13'ners around here. I looked up some sites on Technorati and followed back to some of the folks who posted to my blog. Happy New Year all!

I am glad to have found your blog on the first day of 2009. I will be back often.

But only 7? I'll still be doing 13 and hope I can find my way to other TT friends without the prompts from the hub.

I like The New Adventures of Old Christine but can never seem to find it. They keep changing the night.

Oh, I see other TTers here. I wonder if anyone would be up for keeping a list.

Your kitty is so cute! I would've loved to see her swatting at the hockey players :)

I'm bummed about the end of Thursday 13, but I think I will continue to use the format from time to time.

The Dark Knight, hands down, was the best movie of the year, but I also enjoyed Indiana Jones. Just make sure to have lots of tissues when you get around to Marley and Me. I didn't see it, but I read the book and sobbed like a baby.

Happy New Year!

I'm glad there are so many who continued the Thursday meme in one form or another. I have to agree with your number seven this week. Counting down the days!

I had a heck of a time trying to do the rounds last week. Too many dead end or confusing links. But I'm glad you are still playing.
