ON MOVIES ~ Good Vibrations...

Feature Presentation...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME

Molly looked around for a weekly meme about movies and did not have any luck. So therefore she decided to start her own! Andy will play along as well - hopefully you will too. Go to your blog and create your own post on the topic, linking back to us in your post, then come back and leave a link to your post here in our Comments section. If you don’t have a blog, just share your response in the Comments section.

This week's movie topic is all about Music...

We've discussed Soundtracks and Musicals before. But we haven't covered movies ABOUT music. Which is surprising since Andy is aka Concert Boy (see #13 for a shot of him). So here are some of our favorites. Share on your blog movies with a music related theme and link back here at The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

  • High Fidelity (2000) - Cumpulsive record store owner with hysterical music snob employees is obsessed with his worst break-ups - John Cusack leads a superb cast
  • School of Rock (2003) - disgruntled rocker posing as his roommate for a substitute teaching gig to earn money decides a curriculum of the history of rock & roll is more educational to his young students - Jack Black at his finest
  • Wayne's World (1992) - 2 low budget rockers with big time dreams - based on the SNL skit
  • Rock & Roll High School (1979) - rock loving students take over their oppressive high school with a little help from The Ramones
  • The Pianist (2002) - true story of Poland's famous concert pianist, Szpilman, and his struggles as a Jew through WW2 and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprisings - controversial director Roman Polanski directed Adrien Brody and they both earned Oscars - inspiring Brody to plant a big fat kiss on shocked presenter Halle Berry
  • Do you have a topic to suggest to the Monday Movie Meme? Leave it in the Comments section or send us an e-mail.

2 good ones ABOUT music - or musicians anyway, does that count? - are the one about Patsy Cline with Jessica Lange and of course the one about Johnny Cash with Reese Witherspoon.

The only one in your list that I saw was School of Rock. It started out slow, but by the end I enjoyed it.

Like Rhapsody, I went with movies about musicians (instead of movie musicals). And it was fun.

Neat list! Have only seen School of Rock. You are forcing me to compile a Movie List! All I can think of is the movie that made Geoffrey Rush's name, in which he played a musician with Tourette's Syndrome (I think)...Oh, and The Blues Brothers.

I liked School of Rock, which surprised me--I'm not a fan of Black. I have always wanted to see the pianist--I'd forgotten about it. How about we post about our favorite Christmas movies? Kaye—the road goes ever ever on

Fun topic! I really enjoyed School of Rock! High Fidelity was also a good one!
When I think about it, there are more movies about music than I initially thought!

Great topics. I liked The Pianist and Wayne's World (on completely different levels, of course). Haven't seen the others.

I love School of Rock! I've never seen The Pianist or Rock and Roll High School. I should add them to my Netflix list :)

I really liked High Fidelity and School of Rock. For me, a little Jack Black goes a long way, but he did charm me in this one :)
